Privacy

If you make an account

• Your email address, if you give one. Accounts work with just a name and password; email is optional. If you sign in with an email code, the address is how you sign in. Either way we only send game news if you tick the box saying we may, and every such email will carry an unsubscribe link.
• Your handle. The name you picked (or one generated from the front of your email) so leaderboards have something to print.
• Your results. The colors you picked, your scores, and the days you played.
• Your groups. Which private boards you belong to.

Who sees what

• Your handle and daily score appear on the leaderboard for that day.
• Members of a group see each other’s handles and scores in that group.
• Your email address is never shown to other players.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

The boring machinery

• The site runs on Vercel and the database is Supabase. Both process data on our behalf to keep the thing online.
• We use Vercel’s privacy-friendly analytics for page counts. It sets no advertising cookies and does not follow you anywhere.
• We also use PostHog to understand how the game is played: which rounds lose people, how long a puzzle takes, roughly where in the world players are, and whether they come back. It stores a random id in your browser to tell returning players from new ones. It is not an advertising tracker, and we never sell or share what it collects.
• PostHog can also replay a session so we can watch where the picker confuses someone. Anything you type is masked before it leaves your browser.
• Beyond that, the cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in.

Deleting it all

Email hello@thecolorgame.app and ask. Your account, your results, and your group memberships go with it. If you never made an account, clearing your browser data erases everything we could possibly have.
